A music composer, conductor, and performer, Frederick “Fred” Umar has been working in music for more than 20 years. Fred Umar holds several advanced degrees and is a member of the Golden Key International Honor Society (GKIHS).
The GKIHS was founded in 1977 at Georgia State University for the purpose of representing and recognizing the highest achieving students, alumni, and graduates across the world. Its main focus is showcasing the achievements of its members and offering a number of varied resources.
For a one-time fee, members gain access to the Golden Key Academy. This online academy offers members resources and training opportunities that help fill in the gaps in a university education, and help both current and graduate members to continue their learning.
Students who are members of GKIHS gain access to hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of annual scholarships and grants. There is also leadership training, networking, job training, and career resources that can be taken advantage of.
The society is also involved in community outreach, where each year members perform over 100,000 hours of community service worldwide. This outreach takes a number of forms, including literacy programs, food drives, and cleanup efforts.
